Conference and events facility upgrade

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

We’re pleased to announce that recent refurbishment to the Greyhound’s conference, meetings and events facilities is now complete. The flooring to the Christina Room has been completely renovated to include a new wooden floor covered by a removable carpet. This means that as well as offering our conference and meeting packages as previously we can now also turn the Christina Room into a function room for dinner/dance occasions, disco parties, salsa evenings and other special events.

The break out area, used for the serving of refreshments, just outside the Christina Room has also been renovated to include a fully functioning bar area and food serving counter. The upgrade to this area and to the Christina Room means that The Greyhound is now better equipped to cater for the conference, meeting and banqueting requirements of our clients. It also means that we can offer additional events, entertainment evenings and facilities for event organizing groups and individuals.

To find out more about hosting your event at the Greyhound take a look at some images of the new conference and events facilities, call 01455 553307 or email us.

Recommendation by Gluten-Free-Onthego

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

In-house chefs Steve Dennis and Will Smith have been quietly catering for special dietary needs for years. One of their customers now believes everyone else should know how Steve and Will take care of his severe gluten intolerance. Stephen Cross is so pleased with the attention he receives in the Restaurant that he has recommended The Greyhound to the website Gluten-Free-Onthego.com, an online resource for coeliac’s where they can find great places to eat that will cater for their needs.

“I have finally found a safe haven to eat out where my severe gluten intolerance is not only recognized and understood but blissfully catered for,” commented Stephen. “So many places do not even have a clue as to the meaning of the term celiac. I have no hesitation in recommending that you give The Greyhound a try. At this charming venue where the food is always excellent and the menu varied, the staff are absolutely lovely and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot speak too highly of The Greyhound Coaching Inn.”

Whatever your special dietary needs, speak to our in-house chefs, Steve and Will – they’ll be only too happy to accommodate you and provide a well-thought and delicious meal that is specific to your food intolerance or dietary needs.

New Year Cash Boost For Local Charities

Monday, January 7th, 2008

New Year’s Eve party revellers raised £2000 for local charities at a special Charity Evening held at The Greyhound Hotel in Lutterworth.

Over 100 people joined proprietor Robert Eggleston and the staff at The Greyhound for the fun and fundraising evening which included a buffet supper, Blues cabaret and disco. David MacIntyre, personal piper to the colonel of the Regiment, 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, piped the haggis in.

“It was David’s idea of raising money for charity that prompted me to organise the New Year event.” said Robert Eggleston of the Greyhound. “The Charity evening we held in the summer raised £1200 for Cancer Research UK. We’ve had a tremendous year so it’s nice to be in a position to support local charities. The New Year’s Eve party was fantastic – everyone had a great time and raised a great deal of money. Our thanks go to everyone who supported the event.”

The evening also included an auction orchestrated by auctioneer Mike Carter. A number of local retailers donated a variety of items for the auction which raised nearly £1000 of the £2000 total. The money raised from the whole event will be donated to the Rotary Club of Lutterworth, The Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe, Lutterworth Round Table, The Rainbows Children’s Hospice and Warkwickshire McMillan Cancer Relief.

“The generosity of the local Lutterworth retailers was tremendous in supporting the auction and was the reason why we were able to raise so much from this activity.” commented Robert Eggleston.

Greyhound 'Good' in Food Hygiene Inspection

Food hygene certificate

Harborough District Council award premises that serve, prepare or sell food with a ‘Scores on the Doors’ food hygiene inspection certificate. In carrying out the inspection, the council awards stars as follows:

3 stars = Good; 2 stars = Satisfactory; 1 star = Poor; No stars = failing

The Greyhound has been awarded their top ranking, achieving 3 stars for food hygiene in September 2007. The ratings recorded are calculated by using scores given to the business under Annex 5 of the Food Law Code of Practice (England).
